New Student Union Team (2025) – A Historic Milestone at St. Joseph’s College of Health Sciences
For the very first time in the history of St. Joseph’s College of Health Sciences, student union elections were conducted online a clear sign of the institution’s growing commitment to digital transformation.
The voting was powered by the SARIS platform, making the process more inclusive and democratic. This innovation ensured that even students on clinical allocations could participate without the cost and inconvenience of traveling back to campus.
Campaign Period and Debates
The campaign officially opened on 11 August 2025 and closed on 15 August 2025. The highlight of this period was the manifesto presentations and debates, held in the college lecture theatre. The event was lively, interactive, and historic it marked a new chapter of student engagement and participation at the college.
Voting and Results
Voting took place on 16 August 2025, from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Students turned out enthusiastically, casting their votes wholeheartedly. Finally, during the General Assembly on 19 August 2025, results were officially announced, ushering in the new 2025 Student Union Leadership Team:

Catholic Students Organization (CSO) Join Palm Sunday Procession at St. Joseph’s Parish
Palm Sunday recalls the story in Christian Scripture of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, where He was greeted by people waving palm branches. It serves as a reminder for Christians to welcome Jesus into their hearts and be willing to follow Him.
Today, the Catholic Students Organization (CSO) at St. Joseph’s College of Health Sciences joined St. Joseph’s Parish in celebrating this event in Nguludi , Chiradzulu.

Educational Visit to the National Herbarium and Botanical Gardens – 5th April 2025
On 5th April 2025, Diploma in Pharmacy (Upgrading) students conducted an educational visit to the National Herbarium and Botanical Gardens (NHBG) in Zomba.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into the operations of the NHBG and enhance students’ understanding of medicinal plant identification, with a focus on distinguishing beneficial medicinal plants from poisonous species.
During the visit, Dr. Zacharia Magombo, Director of NHBG, emphasized the critical role of collaboration between training institutions and NHBG, especially for colleges offering pharmacy programs and conducting medicinal plant research. He highlighted that partnerships with NHBG are essential to ensure the accurate identification of plant species, thereby preventing errors in the formulation and production of herbal medicines.

Training Opportunity
St. Joseph’s College of Health Sciences is inviting applications for its accredited 3-year Diploma in Public Health program. This program is recognized by the Medical Council of Malawi (MCM) and aims to equip candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge in public health.
Admission requirements
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with four (4) Credits, including English and any two science subjects.
- The program is open to male and female applicants with a minimum age of 18 and a maximum age of 45.

- MK550,000.00 Per Semester
